RECLASSIFYING CANNABIS
Within the last week, the government have decided to reclassify cannabis to a Class C drug (it was previously a Class B narcotic). Supposedly this move has created 'confusion' as some believe cannabis to be legal. Evidently this is not the case; it simply means that the police's powers in arresting people for cannabis possession are relaxed.
As a libertarian though, my position on this is NOT surprising! Why not LEGALISE cannabis? Who is to say what a person can put into their bodies? In addition, the war on drugs solves nothing. It simply penalises innocent people in many instances. I am also annoyed at the Conservatives' stance on this issue. Michael Howard stated he felt cannabis was 'unsafe'. So much for the party of freedom......
